VDP.GUTSWEIN (VDP. estate wine)

You will recognize our Gutsweine by the white foil at the bottleneck. They are ideal every-day wines: clear and fruity the whites, powerful and well-rounden the reds. Grape variety character and plain drinking fun are the main focus here.

Jacob D.

Jakob D. honours the legacy of our ancestor, who fought in the Peasants’ War of 1514 and paid for his ideals with his life. Delight in revolution still runs in our veins. Therefore we dedicate a powerful cuve?e of Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Cabernet to him.

VDP.Ortswein (VDP. village wine)

Our Ortsweine from the towns of Bo?nnigheim and Cleebronn clearly reflect the characteristics of the various soils. Grape varieties typical of our region, stringent yield reduction and intensive manual labour result in outstanding wines, which unmistakably carry their origin in themselves. They are easily identified by their black foil at the bottleneck.

VDP.Erstes Gewächs (corresponding to Premier Cru)

VDP.ERSTE LAGE designates first-class vineyards with distinctive characteristics which are clearly defined by VDP . On our estate the terraced Wurmberg and Sonnenberg belong to this category, with their regional varieties carefully selected for these vineyards. Traditional methods and a maturation period of almost two years for the reds and several months for the whites guarantee authentic and regionally typical wines. VDP. ERSTE LAGE wines are sealed by a golden foil at the bottleneck.

The selection wines – a specialty of our estate – head our collection together with the Lagenweine. Therefore, they carry a golden foil as well. Intensive manual labour in the vineyards and time in the cellar lay the foundation for distinctive wines with character and an incredible ageing potential. The grapes for these wines are growing in the oldest vineyards on our best sites.

VDP.Grosses Gewächs (corresponding to Grand Cru)

VDP.GROSSE LAGE designates the very best vineyards of Germany. With their exceptional site-specific characteristics, these wines are particularly expressive and have enormous ageing potential. These finest vineyard plots have been narrowly demarcated. A dry wine from a VDP.GROSSE LAGE is granted the title VDP.GROSSES GEWÄCHS. We produce our Grosse Gewächse „ Michaelsberg“, „Schupen“, „Steingrüben“ and „Forstberg“ from Riesling, Pinot Noir and Lemberger.
